What you feel—it is the breath of the next world.
I know; I have been here with the door and this window open all day. And the next world has found its place again in this kitchen, and it is still my father telling me the sky is clearing and it is still the avocado tree in the backyard for decades recklessly giving itself away. It is a song that has been the pillar of poem after poem. And it is the day after the day you said you loved me. You know, my mother always warned me never to mistake a house, not even hers, for the house of divine providence, but you are here with your palms over my palms and your face almost feels like a miracle. |
