It’s why I keep watering the wilting mums
every morning. Finding books I’m not looking for. Why I can’t just say what’s going on right now. There’s a couple kissing at the red light proving it’s not all that difficult. Maybe I need to re-check the extinction list first. Maybe the recipe is less screen time and more interesting animal facts. Mirror neurons. Staying focused with an infant crying in my hands. Becoming the old man who can identify trains by whistle signals. The same one with an overstuffed wallet that takes an exercise to dig out from the back pocket at the diner where grandkids clamor for milkshakes. It’s why I keep watering the wilting mums every morning and sometimes more when I feel good in the afternoon, too, in between writing the orbs and dreaming of taking my sons on a jet, scheming between contrails for my opening to get us a few milliseconds younger. |
