The Big Bang was quiet
as an empty house. Just a lightbulb coming on in a darkened room. A cool draft expanding down a long hall. And no one home to say a word or budge an inch, the landlord largely absent. Could that be him now, the sound of footsteps coming up the walk? A letter in the mailbox. A black cat in the window with any number of eyes. |
Bruce McRae, a Canadian musician, is a multiple Pushcart nominee with poems published in hundreds of magazines such as Poetry, Rattle and the North American Review. The winner of the 2020 Libretto prize and author of four poetry collections and seven chapbooks, his poems have been performed and broadcast globally.
